Camping Packing List Maker
Forgetting the tent pegs or the lighter can ruin a night out. Pick how many nights, the season, whether you are car camping or backpacking and who is coming. The list maker builds a checklist with amounts like water, socks and meals, grouped by shelter, sleep, kitchen, clothes and safety. Tick items on screen or print it.
How it works
- Items are tagged as needed for every trip, car camping only, backpacking only, warm or cold weather, kids or dogs
- Per-person items show a count (people × 1)
- Water = about 4 L (1 gallon) per person per day for drinking and cooking, more in heat
- Socks = nights + 2 pairs each; meals = 3 a day plus snacks
Three things this tool can't see
- Local rules. Check fire bans, permits and food storage rules (bear areas) before you go.
- The weather. Check the forecast the day before and pack for the coldest night.
- Your plan. Tell someone where you are going and when you will be back.
